2005 Cherokee leaks!

New owner here. Being fairly mechanical and savvy on the interwebs, I planned my purchase carefully. I looked at half a dozen found on Craigslist, and passed on all of them. Some had dingey floors, some had small leaks, bad tires, etc. then I saw our Cherokee lite, 28', advertised by a consignment dealer. Looked great, had more of the features we were looking for, great price. It was missing a spare tire and LP tanks, no problem, I can fix that! I made the dealer get me a ladder to check the roof; it looked like someone had just reasealed everything with Dicor. guess I lost my mind on checking this one because cosmetically it was so clean. I failed to notice that the nightstands beside the front bed were showing signs of water damage, in fact, the interior corners on the entire front were rotten! The back corners are rotten. I am planning on doing some major repairs this winter. I'm pretty sure the damage is old, as I can't find any current leaks, and these areas remain dry even after a heavy rain. I really wish I hadn't gotten caught in the moment, I was tired of looking and ready to buy. I passed on several campers that would have been much more sound. We do really like the camper and it tows like its not even there behind my Duramax. That's my story. My advice to anyone reading is take your time on a purchase, and go over the potential purchase with a fine tooth comb. We are still having a great ime with it, though

We just bought a 2005 Cherokee Lite 28A this year also. With this being my first travel trailer I did not look at the roof as the dealer assured me that it was in top notch shape. A month after we bought it I got a chance to get up on the roof and look it over. It looked like it was brand new. I have to give it to my dealer he has been great. Sorry to hear about your troubles with your TT. We love our Cherokee and plan to have it for many years. I have attached some pictures to show what ours looks like.

Looks familiar, in fact, identical. Good looking rig! Make sure to check your corner molding, I think that's where the problem started for me. It is a great floor plan and easy to tow.
