Adding a Roof Ladder????

Ok, I have read many threads on aftermarket ladder issues. My question is; If you do not have the factory blocking, will automotive Molly Bolts (the type used in factory roof rack) work. Once placed though the fiberglass sheet, the surface area of the bolt extends to 7/8 - 1 inch.

Has anyone tried these? Will they Work? Will I be the first to try? I have used them on several project on my truck for the roof (metal) and tonneau cover (fiberglass) but wonder how it would be for vertical force in my Surveyor's sheeting?

My ultimate goal is to put a ladder and Yakima roof rack on the the Surveyor to store kayaks.

Not to be negative nelly but, I wouldn't try it. My ladder has 8 anchor places with 2 screws each place. I believe the twisting moment on the expansion anchors would be enough to rip through the very thin fiberglas siding.

If I were bound and determined to add one I'd get some finished aluminum profile and through bolt the ladder to it, placing the profile on the inside of the RV wall. It wouldn't look too bad and would support the weight required.

There are many different profiles but something like this wouldn't look bad. Aluminum Profile

T Track, I like it! Good idea, I will look into it a bit more. First thing is to see if my model had the blocking for an aftermarket ladder, I recall the Surveyor next to mine at the lot had a ladder, but a different floor plan. Thanks for the tip!

Call Forest River and ask them if it came with blocking already. The results are mixed. Some models have it in all of them and some don't.
