Adhesive on roof

Cleaned roof for the first time since new, and noticed this adhesive streak all the way up the road side of the roof like it had flapped back when installed.

My question is how to clean it off without hurting the roof. Anyone with experience of this sort.

No experience, but you might try WD40 on a small section. But, why worry about it, no one can see it and nobody knows about it other than the 3 or 4 thousand people viewing this forum. lol

I thought the dark color might degrade the roof over time, maybe not a big deal. I get a bit over zealous.

Understand, things like that bug me also, I would try the WD 40 and a nylon bristle brush like the ones you can get at Harbor Freight. WD40 is not petroleum based so it should not harm the roof.
