Recently had black dots on my rv,when removed with wet sponge, the spots came off, but so did the finish. Do not know what they were from. Anyone have any ideas? Is there any kind of touch up,fiberglass paint finish.
Where were the dots? Front cap, sides, rear?? And how large were they? Do you have a picture? Did they come off with just water, or did you use something else?

It's spores from the mulch bed that is near your unit. The spores can fly up to 10 feet. They come from using black mulch. If you change to cedar mulch (more expensive) you won't have the spores. We've fought the spores for years, first on our house (white siding), now on our truck and 5'er! HATE IT!!!

Yep. It's called artillery fungus and shoots toward the sun, or in your case, mine and many others a bright surface. Google it. It is a pain to get off. I have found NuFinish scratch remover from the auto store to work good. Small orange plastic bottle. I dabbed a little on the spots with a microfiber, left for a minute and went back and they come off. Still need a little elbow grease tho but does not damage the finish. If you can get a good coat of wax on the camper they come off way easier. Good luck.
