Bug Screens
Wondering if anyone has ever been able to actually install the screens they sell to cover vents? I'm not talking about the roof vents...the small screens they sell to keeps wasps, etc. out. That tool is ridiculous to maneuver...am I alone in this? 😁😉

Yes I have installed several in my rigs. On one I broke the tool. Took a piece of solid copper wire and fished it through the grill of the furnace. then pushed it through the screen and twisted it to keep the screen in place. Worked great, looked bad, but no bugs made it into the furnace!

I have successfully installed the refer screen . The furnace screen is impossible to install with their silly tool so I made a couple of aluminum brackets that hold it on.

Thanks, I saw someone else did that and tried, but was unsuccessful. I eventually got all the screens on...just wish they were all as easy as the ones for the fridge vents! Those springs and that tool were giving me nosebleeds! Lol

Anyone bought the screens for a Solera? I don't know which vents have available screens and where you can buy them.
Appreciate any help I can Get.
Thanks,
Pete

I used a jewelers file to put a small notch in an old small flat blade screw driver and used that to install the silly springs.

Hot glue will work on fridge vent, but not the Furnace vent ( OP original question) .

our covers for the HW heater and the furnace came with the slotted drivers for attachment.
The fridge ones were easy to install - we merely added a few extra tie wraps for neatness and security.

I have not had a chance to try it yet but a tech at the RV dealer said that if you take dog flee collar and cut it into several pieces to put in all the appliance covers it keeps out wasps and even spiders that like to make webs in the tubes that mess up the air flow. Prob won't work in the furnace fridge and water heater may be worth a shot.

Agree with Ttort. An old timer once told me to use 1/2 flea collar and 3 bay leaves tied in a small piece of nylon stocking--no wasps, no spiders.
