Bumper end caps

What's the best way to keep the bumper caps from falling out? I have lost a few of them threw the years and am wondering what's the best way to secure them. Thanks, Gene

Drill a 5/16" hole thru the top, bottom and thru the cap and put a 1/4" x 5 ss carriage bolt thru it.

Some have suggested stainless steel welding rod or metal skewers from the
Dollar store. I made mine out of galvanized #9 fence wire.
What ever you have.....

BTW while you're at it, take a little window screen and hot glue it
on the inside of the cap to keep out the wasps.

Happy Trails!

Since I needed to buy new bumper end caps that were required to replace the ones that were lost. I bought them from Camping World that where hinged and pop riveted them in. I have never lost any after that and if you do this correctly the pop rivets will not interfere with the hose removal.

This was on my older camper a 2010 318SAB Cougar.

Have always had the plugs come half-way out even after short trips. Before the round-trip to Florida I drilled a small hole top and bottom very near the edge of the bumper and put in two small self-tapping screws. They're still there and haven't budged. I don't care that I can't open them because the bumper is too small to store a Rhinoflex sewage hose anyway.

Drilled a hole top and bottom of the bumper then run a SS screw in each hole.
Both about came out during the 30 mile ride from the dealer to the house.
No worries now.

tomorrow has come! LOL
this was the greatest thing since sliced bread back in the 70's. then, as i was told by a rep, the patent got embroiled in court and off the market it went. probably public domain now. the pivot cylinder goes on the bumper to hold cap in place. one tab is a finger hold and the other rests on the top of the bumper. just rotate and remove hose.
