Caring for seals on storage compartment doors

We have a 2014 Forest River Forrester Class C. Cleaning up the storage compartments after winter storage I noted some of the seals for the doors show some deterioration.

On car doors I just apply some silicone lube. Works fine.

However, I am concerned that using it on seals that are close to the road may attract a lot of dirt.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Caring for seals on storage compartment doors

Personally I use the same lube that I use in the slide seals etc. normally keep them closed when parked so no real dirt issue that I have noticed.

This was the first time I found gunk past the seals. Perhaps it is because we took a longer trip last summer, over 8,000 miles, much of it on less-than-smooth roads.

Per a recommendation, I use baby powder on the slide-out seals. It does work, and does not collect dirt. I would argue that it reduces wear because I hear less noise, but otherwise, I believe, does nothing to preserve the seal.

One suggestion I had was to use a product called "SONAX Rubber Protectant". I was told it goes on as a liquid but sinks into the rubber and is no longer wet.

Kanolabs Lubricone is described as similar.

Still want to hear first-person experiences.
