Carport Advice

I have just purchased a new Flagstaff Micro Lit 25BDS and soon will be paving my gravel driveway. During that process, I am going to pave a spot to store my TT (8' wide x 25'11" long x 11' high) and I want to erect a metal carport to cover it to protect against UV.

I have a couple of questions for those who have installed a metal carport to cover their rv's.

1. Is it essential that I put sides on it to protect from UV or will just having a roof over it be enough to help prevent UV decay. Note: I will still have tire covers on all 4 tires.

2. With an 8' wide trailer, I was thinking of going with the dimensions of 16' wide x 30' long x 12' high at the side (greater at the apex of the roof). This width should give me plenty of room to get it in there and enough space to open the door and have my slide out as well. Please advise.

3. Can you recommend any particular vendor (Chattanooga, TN area) or online that would be good?

I can only offer the advise of minimum 13 ft clear on the center 10-12 ft in width... that way you could fit in a tall 5er...in case.

I would also add... to try for 14 ft sides and 40 ft or so long if you have the room....in case the ground isn't flat

Since I am constructing the pad new, I will make sure it is perfectly level at least side to side and extremely close front to back. I am wanting to be able to run the fridge as needed to prep for trips without have to use blocks or ramps.

Depends on your orientation to Sun rise/set If you need sides or not.

Don’t forget the approaching angle as well. I have a shed with 12 sides and 16 center 30 feet wide, but because the front is about 20” higher than the back and because the door is close to the side and the approach puts a 12 ft+ RV through the roof. I had no immediate RV plans when constructing. Now? Unless I build a long approach it will never happen. Can’t get RV to back.

Just FYI, but my 13'7" high fifth wheel wouldn't fit that!

I am also going to be paving an area for my trailer, along with repaving some of the driveway to put in a dedicated area for it. Although my trailer is 8 1/2 wide x 30 x 12 1/2 high, I am looking for a metal carport that is 15' high, 40-45' long, and 14' wide. This will allow me to lower the rear door, if I want, and most important, if I want to get a bigger trailer, it will fit.

i bought a 24 X 36 12 ft high with metal down 6 ft on both sides. Pull the camper 26 RR forest river and the pontoon 22ft both inside with no problem.
