Did you use the eternabond cleaner & primer for install?

So I am going to preemptively do all my roof seams with eternabond to take away any chance of ever having an issue while I own the trailer.

If you did the install did you use all the eternabond cleaner and primer products or did you just clean well (I'll probably use either mineral spirits or acetone sparingly) or did you just clean and go? Thanks.

I used acetone to clean the sealant and then used the aerosol can of Eternabond Primer before applying the tape. It adhered really well. If you have a rubber or TPO membrane on your roof be cautious not to get too much acetone in contact with the roof membrane.

When applying the tape I started at the rear of each roof penetration and overlapped the side pieces of tape over the rear piece and the front piece over the side pieces. I didn't use any Dicor on the edges of the Eternabond tape because it adhered so well.

Very trim and finished professional looking work. Did you remove the rain gutter to wrap the eternabond over the side edges of your rig?

Thanks, I do not know what roof I actually have. No paperwork for it in my pile of useless user manuals! I've assumed a tpo or rubber and was aware of the risk of acetone or minerals spirits but it is still a good reminder for all.

I am leaving my gutters in place and going to lap it over the screws along the top edge to seal them as well.

Thanks. Please keep us posted. Looked like the OP completed the eterna bond seal along the sides already.... wonder how he did it.

I've been using Eternabond tape for years. I've never used anything more caustic than dish soap and a scrub brush to prep the roof. Never had a leak, either.
This season I'll be re-bedding all the windows on my fiver. Not sure, but I think Eternabond sells a double sided tape. If so, that's what I'll be using.

I resealed the entire edges of the roof on my motorhome with Eternabond, prior to making a decision several years later to replace the entire roof. However, the Eternabond worked perfectly, as advertised. I would use Eternabond again on any dicor sealant seam to eliminate the annual maintenance.

The decision about cleaning is an easy one. Do you care if it never leaks again, or are you happy with a poor install? If you want the product to properly adhere, you must prep the surface. I used both acetone and the Eternabond product, in different areas. Both are excellent, but watch out for painted surfaces that you will not be covering. It will take paint off.

I used mineral spirits to take off any heavy duty crud (tree sap) then a rub down with drug store alcohol and allow to dry for a few minutes before applying the tape.

I did a write up summer of 2015 where I taped all of my roof seams... working well to date.

I washed the roof and then cleaned the areas where I was applying eternabond with mineral spirits. I did the front and rear caps and around the skylight and tv antennae. Planning on doing the seams on the slides this year. So far so good. No leaks.

I did the roof on my Sierra two years ago and everything is still ok. I did use the eternabond cleaner and primer on my camper after I washed the complete roof.

I called the roof manufacturer. They recommended denatured alcohol before applying Eternabond.

When I repaired my dinette skylite I used acetone their cleaner and primer. But I also used some white gas to remove the old eterna bond tape residue it works great but be careful it could cause problems with the rubber roof...

I used the primer (acetone spray) followed by the tape; rolled down with a wall paper roller.

Doc- we are on the same wavelength... ordered some 6" tape and wanted to do the same at end of season, but didn't get a chance to complete before the cover went on... hopefully uncovering this weekend and getting it done... really don't like the front seam on my TT - looks like dicore cow pie.

Yeah, they did ok on ours. I did see a few little pimples starting the the front seam. Sides and rear look goods but I just want to do it so it will be done for my ownership of this TT!

Is that all it is? Acetone in a spray bottle for $39 a can?
