Do you walk on your roof
It's time to put the trailer away for another winter and I'm going to give the roof a good scrub. Last year I just did it off a ladder but I have seen a couple of pics of people walking on theirs.
I'm a solid 240lbs so not sure if I should be up there or not. What say you??

I weigh about the same as you and I walk all over mine without a problem. I get more worried about climbing up and down the ladder...but it says its rated for 300 lbs and hasn't given me a problem yet!

I am 205 and do not walk on the roof of mine, I was told it has a weight limit of 200 pounds not sure if that is PSI or total.
Thinking I will bring it to a truck stop and let them wash it for 35 bucks.

I walk. Its necessary in order to properly inspect and caulk per maintenance requirements.

I was thinking about emailing prime time to see what they say about weight limits and such before I head up there. When I was doing some research before we bought our trailer I saw a picture of four guys standing on the slide of a prime time so I figure me on the roof should be ok. My other plan was to put my 9 year old up there but mom already shot that down

Thats the answer I was was thinking too, I walk on mine and I am about 210, I try to look and estimate where the trusses / crossbeams are.

Well I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow so I will either have pictures of a nice clean roof or a new skylight I guess. Wish me luck.

I stay off the (rubber) roof as much as possible. I do the basic seam inspections off a ladder against the side of the rig. If anything looks dodgy, I'll go on the roof in a crawl to look more closely.
In three seasons, there hasn't been a problem, but I suspect a new round of Dicor is about due. I'll probably pay it done.

I'm 250lbs and walk on roof like a squirrel...I have full confidence with my Sabre roof construction to handle it & it's the best way to inspect the entire roof

Only when I have to. Only then just for maintenance, and a visual checks for any changes. Like posted above, I am more afraid of the attached ladder, and is why I have one those Little Giant Ladders. I lean it up against the attached ladder, and secure it when using it. Just something about climbing straight up on the attached ladder that bothers me. The LGL comes in handy for other chores as well. I sometimes see folks at sporting events with lawn chairs on their RV roofs and wonder what kind, if any, damage they might be doing.

Maybe some of the Elkhart Factory Tour people can chime in on this. I did a factory tour of a non-Forest River company. There were people walking all over the roofs during construction. It didn't seam to be a problem.

It would seem pretty obvious. If the roof wasn't made to be walked on, they wouldn't offer a ladder as an option. Liability would rear its ugly head.

I have a foam mat(bought at NAPA) it is covered and folds in half(red) about $25. It is great for working on cars etc. I used it when I was servicing the a/c on the roof. It made the stress points greater. I had to watch for my boot tips(I know soft shoes). They were my only "ukoh". No damage, just a concern.

Most if the factories have 2-4 people on the roof during construction. Your roof, your concern - I am 230 lbs no problems w/ladder or roof. Soft shoes, NO FRICKIN CHAIRS as the chairs will put holes where you don't want them. Even with plywood pads, when you get up to grab another "beverage" you will have the chair, pads, empties, etc. flying off the roof if there is any wind. Neighboring rigs tend not to take kindly to window damage from your crap flying through the air.
