Don't Winterize your RV in the driveway!

Here's why. If you plan it right, you can talk all or most of your camping friends into an early November camping trip. If you have a compressor, great! If you don't, make sure one of your camping buddies is a carpenter with a compressor. Leave on a Friday, and camp till Sunday morning. Eat, drink and burn stuff all day and night for the entire weekend. Wake up Sunday morning, stumble outside, meet up up with all of your buddies. drink coffee, cook some more steaks and eat them, then make the girls breakfast, let them all shower and then let the winterizing begin. Drain the RV's of all liquids solids and what not and then hook up the compressor and clear the lines. All thats left to do is fill the traps with RV antifreeze.

Go home, empty the cabinets, the fridge and start palnning your spring trips.

This has been a November ritual for us the past three years and turns out to be one of our favorite camping trips.

Sounds like a great plan.

Thanks to a home-owners' organisation comprised of many Rvers and boaters, we can actually keep our winterised RV on the driveway. About 13' of it sticks out past the corner of the garage, but a neighbor has a 36' 5-er and a Yamaha ski-boat on his property.

Unfortunately, a recent accident around the house which resulted in a dislocated finger and other injuries has put paid to our plans for a late season trip. Not having a working left hand makes life a tad tiresome.

Much to our chagrin, we'll be starting the winterisation procedures this weekend, instead of taking that final trip of the season, even though freezing weather is still about a month away. Overnight lows are still in the mid-40's, but daytime weather is awful - heavy rain, low clouds, temps mid-50's.
