Eternabond on roof ... disaster averted.
Finally got around to putting eternabond tape on all the roof openings. After washing, scrubbing and cleaning all the vents and existing caulk, I got the trim rail, 5 plumbing vents, 4 air vents, fridge vent, radio antenna, and skylight done. Still have the ladder mounts, tv antenna, and front cap to go. It does take some time! While I was laying on the roof applying tape to a vent, I noticed a small semi circle cut in the roof membrane, along with a couple other smaller ones nearby. It appears to me that something had been dropped on the roof during manufacturing. The largest of the cuts, and the only one that appeared to cut all the way through, was only about 3/8" long. The roof under the membrane was solid and not soft at all. I applied a section of tape over the area to seal it. I would have not noticed these small cuts had I not been laying on the roof. It was just by luck that I did.
Now for a question. Has anyone applied eternabond to the side roof rails? My roof wraps over the sides down about 4" and I was wondering if I should apply a 2" strip of tape down both sides.
