Acetone is not consider a "petroleum distillate" which are parafinic (waxlike) direct products of petroleum. Acetone is a highly polar solvent that does not impede the adhesion of the adhesives used.

Don't use anything else, such as mineral solvent, turpentine, or naptha as it will leave a residue.

Garbonz is quite correct. Acetone evaporates too quickly to do more than a few molecules of surface penetration and makes the material "tacky" to receive and bond with the tape.

Most other petroleum derivatives are too "persistent" and will soak into the rubber ruining it. Never use anything but EB Primer (spray acetone) or liquid acetone on a lint free cloth.

I DO NOT recommend the lint free cloth method only because if you SPILL the 1 quart container of acetone, you will have a BIG problem. It is HIGHLY flammable, can cause you to be overcome by fumes while on the roof working near the edges, and can eat into the rubber membrane with so much at once.

I have done the Eternabond on my New in 2003 trailer. Put it on right after I brought it home. Sold the trailer this spring, no leaks and eternabond held up VERY well in 10 years of use in all temperatures. Just ordered a Sabre, and will be doing it again. I just encapsulated the existing Dicor sealant, no removal. Worked well.

I like the idea of using EternaBond. I am not one of those type of people that likes doing maintenance. I am a one and done type

Does Eternabond attract dirt? I like the idea of using this on the bigger/longer joints of a TT or HTT.
We used to have custom silicone extrusions made for the same purpose.

Yes, on the edges; but no more than the DICOR Lap sealant (IMO).
