Fiberglass siding scraped

Went to get my TT from storage and found a large scrape on my siding from another TT that tried backing in next to me. Was able to remove all the light scuff marks with some Goo Gone and Magic Erasure pad, but where the other TT's rear side reflector scraped my unit, it left a red scrape about 24 x 2 inches. I had to use a fine grit sanding pad, dampened, to remove all the red material left on the siding. I used very light pressure so as not to remove more of the finish than was necessary.

After completing the clean up I applied a coat of NuFinish polish to protect the sanded area, but even though the area now feels smooth and slick to the touch, when I look down the side at an angle I can see that the siding's OEM clear/gel cote has been removed.

Can I apply an automotive Clear Cote to this area, or will it be okay as long as I keep it clean and waxed?

I would think your "siding" is aluminum. If that's correct, it should be fine with a few coats of wax. If it is sheet metal, keeping several coats of wax on it should also be enough to protect it. I'd be concerned about spraying the area with clear coat that might eventually chip or peal off and the gloss might be different enough that it's more noticeable than leaving it along.

Can someone tell me if they have ever repaired fiberglass. I have a 2015 CC Silverback 29RE fifth wheel. I was backing into my driveway at quite an angle and I put a deep scratch about 6 inches long on the underside of the fifth wheel near the hitch. I took it to Camping World and they have given me an estimate of $1750 to repair it. Is this something I could do myself or any suggestions where else to take the camper for repair?

I have done some fiberglass repair to car bodies, such as Corvette's and some foreign cars. BUT--the fiberglass sidings and caps on today's RV's are of a different nature. I tried to repair a couple and even I was not happy with the results. I believe it has something to do with the fact that car body components are made by blowing fiberglass into a mold and RV walls are made from sheets of fiberglass. Just my SWAG theory. That said: I bought a new TT in January and three weeks later some guy ran into the side of it at a campground while he was parking his old bus conversion camper. That left me with a split about 8" long in my fiberglass siding. I did take it back to the dealer and they did repair it very well although it took them six weeks. I cannot find the repaired area even in the bright sunlight. You might try having an auto body shop look at this.

If anybody wants to post pics of their problem or damage I may be able to help.
Filon, is a different animal than old school fiberglass. You will have to use different materials than mat and resin oftentimes.
I'll try to help if i can just have to see some pics.
