Hood hinge attach point rotted away

We are getting ready for summer travel, I noticed the hood seemed to be very sloppy and loose.

After a close look, I discover the wooden attach point on the hood is literally rotted away and the only thing holding the hood on is a thin layer of fiberglass mat.

I cut out the old rotted hard point and installed new wooden hard point on both sides of the hood. Also, instead of using screws, I decided to use stainless carriage bolts to hold the hinge to the hood.

I wrote a short article on my web blog site with detail and a lot of photos.
