How should I repair this?

i know this is white... but it will get you into what you should be looking at but in a different color.

You can get a roll of this pretty cheap at any RV dealer. Get a new roll and pull out the old stuff and install new trim.

I've frequently had the opposite problem. These units are assembled in a damper climate and I live in a very dry climate. My trim and molding keeps shrinking and or pulling out on me. Some RV dealers carry trim and can easily replace it. My vertical trim came out and was lost while driving. They put a couple screws through the trim to keep it in place.

If they put some sealant over and under the screws you are probably good. A shot of Dicor over the ends should keep it in place without screws. In a wet place like Florida, the less penetrations the better.

Thanks all around. Don't know what I'd do without all the help I've found in this forum!


I found that one of the trim had slipped about 6" backwards. Naturally Murphy ensured it was the FAR end from where the trim had buckled. I was able to work it back in though.


Had to cut a small glob of clear silicone sealant to get it back in place and placed a nice glob of DAP silicone over the edge mimicking how the original silicone was placed.


DAP was all I had on-hand. It was literally only about a 1/2" diameter "glob". Should that suffice?


Must this be done with Dicor?


Lastly...is Dicor something that I should have in my "emergency kit"? I already keep a small roll of Eternabond onhand.

I keep a tube or two of Dicor and a caulking gun on board just in case. Only needed it once.

The DAP sealant will be fine.

I carry a tube of lap sealant, a tube of Lexel sealant, and a piece of roll of 4" wide Eternabond tape. Just in case.

I do as well. Three good things for anyone to have in their 'just in case' toolbox.
