I thought it would be a small fix but found a lot more. I'm going to rebuild around the frame and restrengthen the wall and putting it all back together.

Ill be updating pictures of my progress and let this be a lesson to you all as to why sealing and caulking around lights, and corner trims as well as roof is so important.

Sorry for your trouble and thanks for the reminder to check the sealants around all of the lights (normally don't think of the wall penetrations like you do about roof penetrations).
Great that you have the skills to do this repair - I'm sure a dealer would charge a pretty penny for it.
By the way, what is the model and year of your trailer?

Make sure to use a bleach and water spray to kill the mold. Big project there, but you got it

The model is 1998 forest river wildwood 24fb . Good tip, I have a mold killer spray that I will be unloading on the moldy areas. I went over to an Rv shop where I bought my materials and the guy there was nice enough to show me exactly what I have to do to seal it all correctly. I should be ok, hopefully and this is from corner and rear lights leak.

They do go in the cheap side when they build these things. I added extra reinforcements and wood glue which they could have used. I'm pretty happy with my work too, this wall is extra strong.

Something to be said for stick and tin construction. Yes, it can rot but it is much easier to fix.

M, nice work. In disaster relief - clean up or mud out, we use a product called Shock Wave. Attached link to show you the product not to endorse a particular seller. We get it in a concentrate and mix with water, unlike the attached.

Did that in more to the first trailer a 1973 Terry we bought. The fire dept opened the whole rear corner (there was no fire just a boom ). I bought it cheap and reworked it. Big job to tackle but it was how we got into camping.

If you ever watch Flippin' RVs on GAC you will see that they deal with this same problem all the time. Basically, they do the full repair/rebuild all the way down to the repair just like you have there. Good argument to keep those RVs inspected and sealed. Our first trailer ('54 Westate Engineering) had various amounts of leakage and rot. I caulked all of the seams (I know, too little too late), but it stopped the damage. The next trailer ('67 Shasta) had similar damage in the inside corners and around the windows. I caulked the heck out of it and used the trailer for about 6 years before someone bought it as a "Classic" in '99. I hope they rebuilt it. It was a great trailer. It needed a lot of wood replaced but could be done if someone really wanted it.

I bought this trailer for what I consider a decent price and everything works but needs to be cleaned up. I had a corner trim that was detached and i couldn't screw it in cause the wood was rotted , I could have easily made it work and caulked it but dove in and to be honest I have no regrets . The 2x2s are 1.48$ each and the rest is a few dollars as well , it is work but at the end a spent a few dollars but will have a piece of mind knowing that my wall is new. I will inspect my front wall later but at this price and as cheap as it is to fix it I plan to eventually inspect the entire Rv and have it rebuilt if needed and making it a keeper since I'll know all is well, eventually. Sound nice doesn't it? It's a lot of work but truly not that bad and well worth it. I'll keep sending pics of updates , thanks for all the courage too , you guys are a great support group .

You are doing a really good job, and you will be able to know what is behind your walls. You will be able to know that you have a TT that is better than it came from the factory. Keep at it and then enjoy. Be proud of what you are doing.
