Icicles under the awning....

I don't usually cover my trailers for the winter, and never had a problem. The other day I noticed that there were icicles hanging from under the awning roll. Evidently, where the awning is attached to the trailer, there must be a problem with the calk, if there is calk, allowing the melting snow-water to drip in-between and re-freeze.

We have had an unusully cold and snowy Winter here in Northest Ohio, so when Spring finally does arrive, what kind of calk should I use. I assume silicone?

I know it would help to see a pic, but by the time I though about it days later, they had melted.

Before you get excited, they may have formed from the water on the awning roll itself or seeping thru the sewn seam of the awning.

Icicles under the awning pictures....

Finally got pictures of the recent icicles under the awning today.....and the water is definitely coming from under the awning, probably where it is attached to the trailer. Oh gee, I can't wait for Spring to see what kind of problem I will have on my hands!!!

Yeah there is a Camping World close to me, but the weather has warmed up. So I don't think I can go icicle hunting.....but then again it is still March in northeast Ohio....anything can happen!

My TT has a seam/joint in the rain gutter right in the middle of the awning. Noticed the other day during a little rain storm that it is leaking between them. Maybe that is where your ice icicles are coming from.
