Ladder repair

Now that I’m ladder savy, I have to be a smart butt and see how many people here have had to do a repair and ask to see if Others know what a stand off and stand off nut are. I fig that way others will read this and gain so knowledge re this problem. The nuts rust away and the screws come loose and when you try to tighten them they sheer off inside the tube with only the threaded part left on the screw inside the tube and you can not take apart because you can not pull the screw off. So you have to cut the head off the screw then remove the stand off, then tap in a new stand off nut in the stand out. I have stainless stand off nuts and screws now. I love saying stand off now can u tell? [emoji51]. Strongberg Carlson sell stainless nuts for this. You have to get screws at hardware dept. there is s host of other challenges when doing this job, like screws may strip when reinstall the stand out etc. how to tap in the nut(there I did not say stand off that time). Btw guess how I discovered this problem, yep, I almost killed myself coming down the ladder. My rig is 6 years old and I use my ladder a lot.

Absolutely valuable information! So, now I know how that thing is put together. I can't say how many times I've read about some RV issue, and mentally filed it away for later retrieval.

^^^^^ Ditto!
I don't think there hasn't been a repair or modification I've made to my trailers or motorhome that didn't start from an idea or someone else's posting of a problem. [emoji106]

Wow thanks guys. I have done a lot of repairs myself and learned LOTS. I enjoy sharing what I learn. Another example is plumbing repairs[emoji849]. Had to do a repair because of a bad design in the outdoor kitchen slide. Anytime you want my opinion just ask. I sure have a lot of tools now I did not have before. If u have a smart phone with notes you can store links in a note.
