Leaking Roof

Our friends purchased a 2002 Wildwood Fifth Wheel from a private owner and on our first trip discovered that the roof in the front was coming loose. On inspection we found that the wood underneath was rotting and there was alot of putty on all of the seams. Does anyone know where we can get a picture of the cut out of the construction of this trailer so that we can fix this. We were told to work on the inside and work our way outside. Help!

Hello, and to the forums. In answer to your question, probably 2x2 wood construction, much like a house. As for a picture, unless somebody one here has pictures of one they repaired, you want ever find it, not on a 10 year old camper.

As for repairing it, it needs to be in a garage, covered, as it will take several days, and will be exposed during this time, and you don't want it to get wet. Sounds like the roof, and some of the siding is going to have to come off. You will also need scaffolding that will go all the way up the front, as almost impossible to do this with ladders. You will also be carrying rather large/bulky pieces of plywood up on the roof.

As for taking the inside down, only the front window to start, so you can get the siding off and see what kind of damage you have. Good luck, and I don't recommend you try this at home.
