Lubrication for power jack

We have a Flagstaff MicroLite with a power jack. It works just fine, but the motor sounds awful when raising and lowering like it's straining. I used to grease the worm gear on the manual crank of my old trailer and wondered if my power jack should also be lubed periodically to maintain it properly. Your thoughts? If so, what should I use?

In the past I've lubed my power tongue jacks. Haven't yet on my 2018 MicroLite but it's on my list for this year.

I merely used wheel bearing grease on the gears and some 90# gear oil on the "screw".

My old jacks had a hole in the jack tube where I could stick the tip of a gear oil bottle in and give it a small shot of lube near the top of the screw. It worked it's way down over time. Don't put too much in as you'll find a puddle on the ground or pad where the jack leg sits.


Biggest thing is to cover the power jack and protect it from rain as much as possible. Ideally even when towing if raining. A good cover with draw string on bottom opening is great. They're SUPPOSED to be waterproof but that's pretty tough with seams and switch openings.

Check with your jacks manufacturer, Lippert replied to my inquiry:


The only maintenance to the jack is to make sure the exposed leg on jack raised up is free of dirt and lube with silicon spry only. All other parts are lubed internal from sealed unit.

Sitting at home or CG, I have a bucket that I put over the top. I use the safety chains on the TT and hook them on the handle of the bucket to keep it from blowing off in a storm.

My Ultra Fab power jack has a zerk fitting for lubing.

Anyone have any idea what brand this is? It has no labels or markings and I don't have a manual for it.

Kinda resembles my UntraFab but with only one photo of a black object it's hard to tell anything.

Regardless of brand these all pretty much require disassembly and greasing every few years. I use the same grease as my wheel bearings.

Great finds, jd! It looks like someone manufactures them under different brand names.

In my own research, I came up with the name Fastec marketing it under model # FIC 3500. It looks like they were used on some of the Rockwood, Flagstaff and Jayco trailers. Still can't find any maintenance instructions though.
