Maxx Air Vents

We just traded in our Jayco Greyhawk Class C for a 2017 Salem Villa Retreat. We had the Max Air vents added to our 3 vents in our class c and we're going to have them or a similar brand installed on our new home. Has anyone added vent covers to their Forest River models?

Be careful if you have them installed. A friend of mine have them installed on his new Class C and they screwed them right thru the roof and didn't use the supplied hardware. But it goes without saying it was CW.

Happy RVing!

Hi,
I installed them on my Coachman that I sold. They are great to have as you know. If you are handy, the install is about a 4 on the handyman 1 to 10 scale.
Congrats on your Salem Villa Estate 395RET.
Please let me know what you think of it, I am ordering one in December for a April 2017 delivery.
Thanks.

MaxxAir vent covers are great. I installed them on all my vents. If you have the high volume Fantastic Fan be sure to use the right cover. I used the previous model MaxxAir Fan/Mate.

You are right, I forgot to mention that. The bathroom vent (the only vent) is a fantastic fan.

Vent covers are a must. You will surely get wet sooner or later without them.

I added 3 of them to our unit....very easy install with the mounting hardware going into the "curbing" of the fan...no need to go through any roofing material.

Mine came with the Camcorder vent covers ( on a 2013 Sabre fiver) Had to replace one due to UV damage to louvers and went with Camcorder again. At $10.91 delivered, I figured if I had to replace it again in a few years, I'd still be ahead.

Thank You

Thank you for your response. I loved the covers on our class c. I just called the dealership and they are going to install the covers. Our delivery date has been set so we will move in and start the fun in April.

When we traded our '99 wilderness fir our '16 Hemisphere we took them off the old tt painted them to match the new, installation is pretty simple. I couldn't be without them.

Are they standard? On our Roo they were options on the order forms but they may have been "mandatory options"
Funny those mandatory options. If its mandatory how in the hell is it an option?

The factory installation sucks. They use the supplied hairpin clips and attach them to the four eyes that are molded into the plastic maxxair fan/vent housing. Its a huge timesaver no doubt. The problem is they must do it immediatly after they run the self leveling around the vent, and using that mounting method requires them to mash the cover into the sealant. Eventually the vents can leak around the flange because it compromises the sealant. Its not a matter of if they'll leak.....its when. Just hope it drips inside so you notice and doesnt run somewhere inside the roof where it takes awhile to find it. My rear one started dripping around the inside bezel right into the toilet. I think wind movement on a long trip moved the cover enough and since it was mashed down in the sealant, it eventually split it. My front vent also showed evidence of the sealant being compromised when I pulled it apart.

Maxxair makes metal L brackets. There actually called the zero leak mounting kit......thats says volumes to Rockwood not using them lol... that attach into the vertical frame of the vent with bolts and accept the hairpin clips for the cover. That way the whole assembly is above the sealant. The 15 minutes it would take to use those at the factory would evidently take too long or cost too much.

I bought 2 sets of the Maxxair L brackets, for $7 each, cleaned up the factory sealant job, and eliminated the mess on ours.

I put them on my 27RLWS last year after having to replace the vent covers due to sun damage and now I get to go back on the roof and put nylon nuts on the bolts since the original parts supplied vibrated off before we go anywhere this year.

It was a very easy install.

I've always seen these but never got the appeal. What is the benefit to installing them?

I put three of them on mines.

And no you don't drill a hole in the roof, please don't do that, their are some that you have to remove some seal around the vent on the roof but these don't have to.

Captain Murica, These covers will prevent sun damage to your roof vents and the biggest advantage is you can leave your vent open in the rain and not have to worry about it raining in your RV.
