New Columbus Inspection Concern

We are happy to have the 2014 Columbus RS 320 delivered last week. Upon inspecting it there is a discrepancy in the sealing on the back underside of the trailer. I will attach pics to show the curbside which is mostly sealed and the road side which is lacking when compared.

We bought it from a dealer out of state who delivered it to us.

I welcome your suggestions or insight and guidance.

Thanks,

Grateful

From your pics it looks like the factory didn't apply any foam sealant to that side. You could pics up a can and do it yourself. While you're at it foam seal any places where critters can get in.

I would seal it up. I would contact the dealer and discuss and send him the photographs. I would ask him to supply the sealant and ship via UPS. An unreasonable person (perhaps even “dishonest”) is going to shift the burden on you by demanding that you return the unit to them.

I do not know how far “out of state” the dealer is from you, but if you have to deliver to him, it would probably cost you more than the sealant. An honest and reasonable dealer would work out something with you and not take advantage of your being out of state. If he is not willing to send you the sealant, then the question for you will come down to which cost you’re willing to pay verse principle. Hopefully, you can work something out.

Irony

Thanks for the feedback. I sent pics to the dealer and will chat with them by phone today. I will ask for them to send me the foam/sealer. What is ironic is that before delivery they applied "Mouse Free" to the under belly. How could they not see the wide open door for the critters to enter?

Oh well, not our first camper. I kind of expect a shakedown and repair period.

Thanks again, I value this forum and your insight,

Grateful
