Peripheral caulk on roof patch, lifts patch and original roof material

I've had a difficult time repairing damaged roof membrane behind the front cap. On this, my fourth try, I applied a TPO patch with Alpha System's adhesive. I coated the patch and the roof, waited for the adhesive to become clear, applied the patch and rolled it in both directions. When I'd done a test patch with this technique on a small area, the patch stuck extremely well so, I had confidence this time. The next day, I applied the Apha System's caulk around the periphery. The following day, I looked and the caulk had lifted the edges of both materials like a boil lifts the skin! I'm looking for wisdom that escapes me. Some may suggest Eternabond tape. This was try number 3. Although the tape adhesive seems strong enough to lift the camper, the adhesive remained on the patched area and the tape lifted! By the way, that adhesive was really hard to remove.
