pothole forced cargo door to pop open

we're going down the road and hit a series of potholes, bumps, or whatever. next thing i realize is that the door to the cargo compartment is open an flapping. my guess is the pothole flexed the trailer enough to allow the door latch to open up. luckily, nothing fell out!

i looked at the latch and strike plate and the latch was not extending very far into the strike plate. found the local hardware store and put a couple of washers behind the strike to move it out a bit so more of the latch will go into the strike. there are a couple d-rings on the floor and i used some bungee cords to help hold the stuff in the compartment. once we get home i am going to add some more d-rings and attached a cargo net across the opening before latching the door. i don't want stuff falling out!

just wondering if anybody else had similar problems and what they did to prevent them from reoccuring.

similar issue with the cam locks on the propane compartment, just not enough engagement of the arm behind the frame. Looked for a longer arm at the RV store but found nothing. Ended up fabbing longer arms by welding two together. Not a "latch" though
