Question on Roof vents

Hello all. I just picked up my new Rockwood 8280WS last week from RV Wholesalers. As luck would have it, we had a severe hail storm come through last night and both of the plastic vent covers were broken. It doesn't look like any water got into the camper but both of the vent covers will need to be replaced. i have covered them with plastic for now until I can get the new covers. My question is are these covers pretty much universal? I saw quite a few 14 inch plastic covers on Amazon but I wasn't sure if I needed an exact replacement or not. I can't see any brand or model number from the inside and I really don't want to remove the temporary plastic I've taped on to look from the top.

Any help would be appreciated.

measure the cover and then go to Camping world and measure the cover there and see if it is the exact size you need and if the price is right get them there before another storm rolls in or get them from amazon and while you are at it I would put on Max Air II vent cover's so when it does rain you can have the vent's open and not worry about the rain coming in your camper - I had mine installed at the dealer before I delivered my camper so I didnt have to climb on the roof

Order two 14x14 lids from F/R. While waiting on the lids put on 2 MAX AIR 2 covers with the hinges,when the lids come in flip MAX covers up and put lids on! Youroo!!

14X14 is going to be fairly universal. the difference is going to be in the hinge, they aren't interchangeable. i would remove one of the covers and go to a local dealer to match it. i know of 3 different hinge styles.
if u look on camping world under vent covers, u will see what i mean. unfortunately, it is hard to tell the differences in a couple of them (from the pictures).
the cover is removable from the jack part.

Max Air covers are great.
If your vents have those cheapo tiny-whiny fan's consider
replacing at least the one near your bed with a MaxxAir
fan.
We use ours all the time. On low speed we can go days on
just battery power and still have a nice breeze when needed.

Thanks everyone. I have been in contact with Todd at Forest River. I gave him the VIN and he is researching to determine the specific vent that was installed on my camper. When I have that information I will be able to order the correct lid with hinges that match up with my existing metal frame.

I plan on going to Camping World this weekend to look at the Max Air II vent covers. When installing them do you have to drill additional holes into the roof or do they attach to the existing vents?

Order $125 or more and the shipping is free. I've ordered several times from them and the shipping is fast and I received everything as ordered each time.

You will have to drill, but it's a pretty easy install. After you do just one you'll have the hang of it.

You do not drill into the roof but have to drill into the side of the existing vents when installed will not leak. no damage to roof. Visit Maxx Air site and reveiw how to install. Maxx Air II are great. They are hinged on the side so you can open up and clean air vents. I leave my air vent open when travelling, helps keep TT cooler.

You need to drill some holes, but they are through the portion of the vent frame that sticks up above the roof. NO drilling into the roof itself.

I put Maxx Air II's on my 5er and love them! The hinge feature is nice too.

Check out Amazon, they had better prices than RVW and free shipping. I bought a Maxxair Turbo for over the fanless bedroom vent, a Maxxair II for the bathroom, which already has a good fan, and a Maxxair Fan Mate for over the living area which has a high flow Fantastic Fan. Moving air through all three fans really cools things down fast and the Maxxairs allow the vents to stay open in the rain.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I bought a couple of "unbreakable" vent lids to replace the ones that were broke by the hail storm. I put them on last Friday after work. That should hold me for a little while until I get the Maxx Air vent covers. The broken vent lids were on the manual crank-up vents with no fans that were in the bed room and living room. I noticed today that my Fantastic Fan in the bath room won't come on. The lid on it was not damaged. Oh well, just one more thing to try to figure out. This one may require a trip to the shop.

Our fan in the bath was on the switch that contoled the light. If the wall switch is not turned on the fan will not run.
