Road Wrap

We are planning a month long trip this summer and are concerned with keeping the bugs cleaned off the TT. RV parks tend to discourage washing of TTs while in their park so keeping the unit clean will be a challenge for such a long trip.

Has anyone ever used Road Wrap ( Protective Film : New Car Paint Protection : Paint Protector : Automobile Paint Protection : BuyRoadWrap.com )? It may be a little expensive also.

Any tricks and tips to keeping the TT clean when RV parks frown on to much water use will be appreciated.

We just weave around the bugs when we drive....

although that does create a different type of clean up from the nausea....

I wonder if the decals would peal off with the film?

Good question and I wonder why the ad doesn't say one way or the other.

Also - wonder why it can only be left on the vehicle for up to 7 days?

in their FAQ, they back waaaay off the 7 days and imply that you can leave it on longer, but they don't want to be responsible. But that it "should" peel right off and leftover glue can be cleaned easily.

They also state the optimal storage details are 72F and 50% humidity.

Yep - that's exactly the temp I store all my stuff.....

This seems like a good idea in theory, but in todays sue happy world, I guess they really have to be very careful in their claims.

I might be willing to try it on a small place.

I use a waterless car wash on the front of the trailer before we leave and don't buff it off, leave the haze on. When we get to where we are going, I buff the front of the trailer with the haze on it, comes up nice and shiny. I do the same when we leave the campground only takes a short time.

I may be all alone on this but I dont mind taking on dust, bugs, grime and all of that earthy stuff that becomes a part of the camper during a trip. This summer I hit a skunk on my way out west. I never cleaned it off and the remnants are still left on the front of the popup as it sits on the side of the house. When I come home from work and see that spot of skunk I cant help but remember 6am South Dakota skunk and what an awesome trip it was (swerved away from two deer, hit two pheasants, and nearly hit another skunk). Mind you...that needs to come off and should have been removed by now.

I guess no one has used this product but I sure appreciate all the feedback. I did find this review, all be it from the road film web site ( camping info, the stuff you need to know: Road Wrap ).

I will try the weave and bob method and will try to miss the skunk, which reminds me of a pig I hit once. Late at night and poor pig was still alive a squealing and squealing but I had to get home. Dragged him to the side of the road, still squealing. Got in my trunk to find a rag to wipe off the blood. Got back on the road and went to light a cigarette and my arm caught on fire ( must have been something on the rag I used to clean off pig blood). I panicked and started waving my arm out the window. Luckily the fire went out but next thing I knew imwas being pulled over by the sheriff. I wondered why he pulled me over, was I speeding, driving wreck less? He said he had to write me a ticket and I said what for. Waving a fire arm was his answer. I was ticked and about to leave when the game warden came speeding up, lights flashing, and said I was not free to go. He approached my car and said I was under arrest for hitting a pig and leaving the half dead animal along side the road ( damn PETA). I said how do,you know it was me and he said "some pig squealed on you".

I may try the film and let everyone know if it works.

By the way, if anyone is interested in trying this product buy it from camping world. About half the price as the web site I linked.

I usually apply a GOOD coat of wax - Nu Finish just prior to leaving. This allows me to take a soft towel and wipe a majority of the bugs off when we stop at the campground.
