Question Roof maintenance

I noticed the seams and around vents and pipes need to be resealed on my TT roof. I have a 2005 Wildwood T26FK. From what i gather the Dicor lap sealant is the best choice. My question is should i try to remove the old sealant or clean it and go over whats already there? I was thinking removing it may cause damage or start a leaking issue.

Dicor recommends you go over the the current seal unless there is major damage
