Question Roof vents?

Ok fella's, here is where I souind like such a dummie. Finally got help to come put the Max Air covers on the Roo. While he was up there he said that there were two vents on top, and that one didn't have a cover on it and that the other looked like the sun had done it's damage and was about to bust at any moment.

Do you know the vents that I'm talking about and do you have any idea what part I would need to call to ask if they have on hand? Did both have a "cover" on them to begin with? I guess it would help if I was able to get up there myself to look but ladders are not in the future for me yet.

you dont sound like a dummie to me

maybe you could have your buddy or whom ever go back on the roof and take pictures for you and post them back here and then will be able to give you better help if that is an option

Just taking a wild guess, but maybe he's talking about the grey and black tank vents?

If that's what it is, you might consider replacing them with these; Cyclone Plumbing Vent by Camco - RVWholesalers.com RV Parts and Accessories

I've used these on the the black tank vent before. Never had a problem with them.

On mine, I have two crank- open vents and one power vent in the bathroom above the toilet, and a skylight above the shower. The crank- open vent covers are very easily deteriorated by the sun, and I have replaced two of them already. The good news is that it is fairly easy to do, and the CAMCO generic cover is available at most RV parts sales places including the Dealer's store for 13.95 each. There is also a fridge vent cover that goes south from the sun pretty quickly, too. Randy

I'll see what I can do about getting photo up sometime after noon today.

It's vent PIPES not the fan/vent cover. Will get photos soon. Heading to Knoxville tomorrow and If I know what to get I'll be there to pick up what I need.

Oh yes, spend the couple of bucks to buy the Vented covers for over the crank- open vents. I have 4 vents on the MH and I covered all but 1, guess which crank- open vent cover blew apart? Yap the one with out the Vented cover.

You definitely want a cover on those vent pipes. I just replaced 1 of my because it literally fell apart, and I was suprised that the vent pipe did not fill up the flange. Looks like to me, if there was no vent cap, then rain would run down the pipe into the camper.

Went out and took photos. I misunderstood what he was saying. I was thinking that he said one was completely uncovered. What it is one is busted. Photos to follow in a few. I see now what I need to get and will take these photos with me to dealer tomorrow.

From what I could see this one isn't broken but should be replaced due to sun dried out.

This one looks like the one that is busted and just barely hanging on. Will get replacement tomorrow.

See the BRAND NEW MaxAir Covers? Love it! Looking forward to not having to worry...... did I shut the vents?

The RV dealer that I got my replacement caps from suggested that I replace the whole thing. But the flange still looked decent, and I hate tearing up the the caulk, installing the new flange, then caulking it back, so I just replaced the cap. The old cap had a recessed screw holding it down, and the new cap didn't. I drilled a hole and put another screw in that so it wouldn't blow away going down the road.

if you go to camping world and do a search on roof vent caps - you will see they are cheap between $6 or $7 depending on if you are a camping club member

I just noticed one of mine is cracked. I might go with one replacement cap and one cyclone for the black tank. One that came on my trailer are some thin plastic. I don't want to mess with the flange off because of the Eternabond I put up their.
