Rotted behind ext. siding-replacement wood type?

We've found outside leaks and have researched and bought a Corner Seal Kit from Seal Design (RV Education 101 has a great video on how to complete the fix; so does Seal Design). Once the old corners covers were removed, we could see the wood behind the aluminum siding sections was separating into thin sheets. Does anyone know what type of wood we'd need to replace it?

You are looking at a nightmare fix with rotted wood under the aluminum siding.
If you are not comfortable with a very long, involved, expensive project... I would suggest installing the new corner kit and trade it in.
Also, you can look at this thread... Insane 1999 Wildwood repair....pic heavy!

Good luck, keep us posted.
