screw poking up...how quickly should I have this addressed?
so I was up on my roof for the first time last night, and saw some spots where it appear there is something under the rubber roof materials. One particular one is clearly a screw poking up.
I will take this up with Coahmen, but my question is how quickly do I need to have this addressed? Leaving Saturday for a week in Colorado...

Has it poked through? Can water get in?

It did not appear to have poked through, no obvious hole or tear, yet there is a small dot of rust there, which suggests metal came in contact with both water and air. No other signs of water under the rubber roof material to my untrianed eye.

You could wait 'til you return from your trip to have it looked after but I'd take a piece of Eternabond or Dicor tape with me in case it punctures the membrane.

This is the scenario running through my mind this morning, if I stop at an RV dealer for some eternabond etc., and apply it myself, will it make it harder for my dealer to repair this?
Of course the next question is: how DO you repair this? A new roof?

Which end of the screw is poking through? From the picture, it looks like the pointed end.
If you're leaving it outside, exposed to wind/rain, you'll need to have this attended to quickly. Meanwhile, if you can't get to it right away, you may want to put a dot of lap sealant over it in case it does come through!

And now I feel like an idiot - I was up there replacing our vent, with 2 open tubes of lap sealant... 
It is actually stored in a cave, but has been in several rain storms. Supposed to rain tonight...

From what I see, that's the only repair that I'd accept is a roof replacement.

Is there anything mounted to the ceiling on the inside of RV that you could possibly find and back that screw out? AC unit, cabinetry, etc.......

climbed back up last night and put a pretty big glob of lap sealant over the screw. Same advice our dealer gave, BTW. Sent those pictures to him and he is waiting to hear how Coachmen will address this. He stated that Coachmen in the past had them install a fake plumbing vent cover over the area...hmmm
Also have a delamination spot on rear wall that has grown. Took new pictures, waiting to hear how they address that as well.

The dealer needs to take back the rubber roof to just past the where the screw is popping up check if there is any water damage take out the screw put new one next to the old one never add some thing to a rv roof if you don't need it.

so - after reviewing these pictures my dealer informed me, and I spoke with Steve Brandenberger at Coachmen that they would replace the roof or at a minimum repair this area. While I was not all that happy with the alternative approach (they mentioned placing a sewer cap over the area) I arranged to drop the trailer off July 30th for this and quite a list of other warranty work.
I was just informed that Coachmen is denying that anything needs to be done. According to dealer Coachmen's response is that this is normal, they do not guarantee a flat roof, and as it is not currently piercing the rubber membrane, they will not warranty this.
The dealer is reportedly appealing this decision, but for now, I am on my own.

WOW jeeplj8,
I have not had mine very long, kind of makes me think that I should have looked at something else. With that kind of service I don`t see how they can stay in business after the word gets out.

Go push on it and poke it through. Now it's "piercing the rubber membrane" and they have to deal with it.
This stuff makes me crazy. It clearly needs addressed or will become a problem.

well, I would, truly I would, but it is at the dealer, who is waiting on the replacement rear cap (to replace the one that delaminated, even though Coachment said it would be fine) which Coachmen said they shipped 7/26...which has not yet shown up...

They say great minds think alike. The dealer went to check on it and when they touched it, it pushed through. now the ball is back in Coachmen's court.

I know you couldn't actually ask them to do it, but I sure would have hinted around to my dealer that I would have thought it helpful to do it..
Was that a loose screw that came out?

He said it actually a nail head. I am not sure if it was loose or had worked loose. Since it was pointy end up - guessing it was debris left on roof when they rolled the EPDM membrane over it.
