Screws coming out of trim

While half way through our fall trip and a lot of rain and wind I noticed the screws coming out of the trim around the trim and it started to fall off so i took them off because the screws wouldn't tighten up without stripping out. has anyone else had this problem and are there any suggestions on what to use to keep these trip on

I and many others have had problems with the screws for the bottom skirting backing out due to wind and vibration. There are many suggested solutions to this problem. What I did was to place a locking nut of the size to fit the screws and tightened the screws. This stopped the screws backing out.

I use small nails and a hammer for some interior trim that's fallen off.

All exterior for us is still going strong.

IF the screws are on the exterior and you cannot access the area behind the screws I use this method: Buy some epoxy that comes in the double syringe and has the mixer nozzle you attach to the syringe(s). Make sure that all the holes you wish to repair are ready as this stuff sets up in the mixer tube pretty fast. Once this epoxy dries you can drill a pilot hole in it for the screws and it holds good.

My Spartan toy hauler had the same issue especially on the slide out skirt. The screws on the plastic wheel trim were the worst. I ordered some large black pop rivets they use in car racing and replace all the screws. Went to CA and back to CO without any issues... it's just stupid to try and use screws in sheet metal that is as thin as the skirt is.

Lock washers seem to work for me. However... it isn't just the screws in the trim that work loose! I was repairing the folding sofa the other day and noticed that there was daylight showing at the slide wall and floor of my Windjammer. When I crawled under I discovered that several of the screws holding the slide frame support to the wall were missing. Others were loose. I tightened everything and replaced the others that had been lost with slightly larger screws. If it happens again I will replace everything with rivet-nuts, lock washers, and bolts.

Had to replace two missing screws on a slide out. Top trim that goes along the edge of the roof membrane. End of trim was sticking out and took a little chunk out of the seal. Repaired with some scrap membrane, the little piece and heavy duty contact cement. Holding strong so far.
