Slide Out Topper

Does anyone know of a way to keep the rain water from collecting in the middle of my almost 13 foot slide out awning? It seems that I have to run the slide out back in just so the water escapes from the awning as it retracts. Is there a way to tighten the awning so that the rain water can not collect in the middle?

I had asked this same question of Tiffin motorhome customer support when we had our class A Allegro Bus. The reply way "NO" because if you tighten it to the point where the water will run off, it puts too much stress on the slide as it moves to the "out position". This stress can cause the slide to cock vertically when extending, which of course is not good.
I suppose you could use some type of long arm tool to push/place a spacer between the awning and the top of the slide to essentially peak the awning allowing the water to runoff due the the slope.

there are wedges that are made for this also. You can use an air mattress. I'm sure you'll get the idea

A large beach ball works fine and is cheap.

Just remember to take out whatever you put in before retracting. Murphy's Law! 😱

I would probably put blue painter tape over the slider switch as a reminder.

Someone posted in another thread: you can tighten the tensioners (tortioners?) on the slide topper to help firm up the topper and cause better drainage. Can't speak to it myself.

This summer in our CG there was a Grand Teton 5er. It had these things under the toppers that kept the rain off. I never got a pic or even spoke to the owner about them but it looked neat. There were plastic strips about an inch wide under the toppers. They were attached to the coach in the middle of each slide then to the slides on the outsides. They were fixed to the slides in a manner that allowed them to slide. When the slide was closed they were longer than the slide. It reminded me of a recurve bow under the topper.

Yes they are!!!!

I took my 2016 CC34RL in for some small warranty work last week. At the dealer another 5er was coming in for some service work without slider toppers on it. Both slides had leaves and twigs sticking out on the side of the camper this debris were pinned between the slide room trim and the wall of the camper. Could not be good for the seals or the side walls. There were so much debris that the DW notice them before me and pointed them out.

I would not have a camper with out them if there are slides installed in the camper. That is one reason I would not buy a SLIVEBACK Cedar Creek slide toppers can not be installed. Dealer try to sell us one when we had to order our CC34RL and wait for the camper to be built.
