I installed mine by myself. If you have a little DIY skills you can save a lot of money. The directions are straight forward. Make sure you buy a good sealant.
Check out www.shadepro.net they have free shipping and beat any prices I found.

There are several instructional videos on You Tube for installing various slide toppers. It appears that one key element is having a willing assistant ...

I didn't know that the toppers could be installed at the factory. I ordered a 2703WS from RVWholesalers and they're charging me $1470 for the three toppers as an add-on. I was not told toppers that could be installed at the factory, and I'm pretty sure I'm paying top dollar for them.

RVW clearly has them listed as factory options, on the build your own pages.

I listed them, and the power tongue jack, with our other options but they weren't listed with the factory options on our sales agreement. I will question them when we take delivery on Friday.

Ask to talk with Dave Durnell.
He's been very supportive of our members here.

$1475 is about right for three toppers. That is what we paid our dealer in 2014.

As already stated there are valid reasons for the slide toppers. But I have not seen this mentioned so far. We winter on the coast of South Texas where there can be a stiff breeze from time to time. The slide toppers tend to flap in the wind and keep people with them up at night. I have seen all sorts of contraptions used in attempts to correct this. Ropes tied over the topper and slide, PVC pipes and ropes, Styrofoam blocks. So if you or the DW is a light sleeper keep this in mind.

FYI, properly tensioned, toppers do not flap.
They do tend to work slack after a few years, so they should be re-tensioned when that happens.
If the wind is blowing hard enough to flap a properly tensioned topper, it's time to go to the tornado shelter.

Yes but what would the cost if installed at the factory?
Cost aside, I would rather have options installed at the factory. That's why we ordered a fireplace from the factory and didn't get one from Amazon or Walmart. Even the power tongue jack should have been installed at the factory.

My dealer charged me $875 for 3 slide toppers installed at the factory. He said that was his cost (who knows ;-)). I am glad I got them and it appears I may have avoided some leak situations that others with my same model and no toppers have experienced.

Yes for a topper. My previous TT did have one, my current TT does not. There has been debris/leaves/rain water/pine needles etc nearly everytime I pull it in. Each time I cleaned it prior to bringing it in. So, yesterday, ordered a slide topper for a 142" slideout from my original dealer with a price of $501 installed, out the door. Yes, I have the skills, etc to DIY, however I do not have the time presently nor the helper.
I see it as insurance.
