My awning on my last rockwood rolled under, not over like the toppers. Whatever was on the awning rolled up with it.

I have a topper on mine and would not have a slide with out. Just my feeling!

That's why I couldn't help you, I guess. I've never owned nor seen an awning that rolled any different than the topper in flymhi's pic.

I must be an idiot. In my mind I pictured it going under but you're absolutely right. Sorry for typing before I think.

Or anything that's wet. It'll stick and roll up with it.

Wet or Dry "Bird DOO DOO" sticks like Paint! I would rather have it on a Topper than the Top of slide that is going to be Inside our unit! Youroo!! US flag on 2nd line?

I like the slide topper for the reasons mentioned above, but I also think they just make the slide look better. Gives it a roof effect instead of just a box popped out of the RV's side (and this from a person who wears 30 yr. old t-shirts).

We like our slide toppers. Helps with keeping camper cooler in the summer and also helps protect slide out seals.

If your ordering from factory, have them installed there.
The cost is roughly half of what you'll have to pay to have them installed by dealer later on.
Mine are factory installed.

I never even thought of them until after I took delivery!

I am pretty good at DIY so I will attempt it myself. Just need to find where the framing members are etc. Not too familiar with how these things are put together yet. I just have one slide.

Installed both mine myself. Framing on slide was really no problem as the mounts are out on the corner in natural framing points. They use so many screws and silicone "glue" on the awning rail that frame may not really be too much of an issue.

Sound like how it should be, I would just like to be sure. They have to have a frame around the slide. Did the topper come with instructions as to where to drill? I assume that most are built fairly similar with regards to framing around the slides. (But you know what happens when you assume...)

Try to insure there is enough 'pitch' in your topper so rain water will run off and not pool up. You may want to go to a dealer where your Grey Wolf is sold and find one with slide toppers. Take pics.

For me, the extra peace of mind that water will have a harder time to leak in is worth the price.

I you want to make the attempt but are unsure of the mounting spots may I suggest you hire a mobile RV repair guy and have him supervise/help.

Likely still cheaper than a dealer and undoubtedly faster as well.
