personally i use the bumper jack off a 75 Dodge dart for my step support. the height of the bar also doubles as a safety handle of sorts for those hands coming off the hand rail for that extra step.

the shoe rack is sort of giving me a project headache though.

as far as the small rocks in the shoes... i have the same problem. noticed i had large rocks in my sneakers last night as i reached the 1/2 way across my living room hardwood floor at home.
They fell out right (the rocks) after i took them (the sneakers) off when i walked the return 1/2 way across the floor.

I'm blaming the cats!!!!!

Have had step rugs on all of my rigs and love them, but with my newest FW (it has four steps and the rest had three) I found that I could not attach rugs to all of the steps and have the steps close properly. I am able to leave the top rug attached and still have the steps close. When we stay in Phoenix for the winter I do attach the other three for the long term stay.

We like to have the rugs to wipe our feet on. It is not necessary to buy the premade rugs from camper supply stores. Go to Ollies or similar and buy the indoor/outdoor stick on squares(12x12in.) for less than $1.00 each, cut them in half and you have 2 steps worth of rugs. Works great.
