A picture would help but it sounds like the type of vent you push UP on the clips with you thumbs and rotate out.

The two little clips on the lower corners pivot. I think mine turn up. Once they clear the vent cover, it will open when fan is on. Don't forget to turn them to locked position before traveling. The covers can blow off if they are flapping while driving.

Those vents are a bit tough to get open. You'll need to be aggressive to actually snap in loose from the tabs/clips.

Stove vent clips come in several different styles.
Some pivot, some push up, some pull down.
Before we start giving a bunch of answers we really should know what style the OP has.

How about a photo?

Stove vent

As others have said it might be the clips but mine wouldn't open because the caulking around the vent had been smeared into the flap opening and had it glued shut. Thought I was going to break it trying to get it open but with the help of a razor knife I was able to free it up and it works fine now.

The clips on my Rockwood push up and are very stiff and difficult to operate. They don't pivot. I expect them to break each time I in latch them.

Took the flaps off our last 2 trailers and just put some screen wire on the last one. The 5er we have now has the SAM-1-81 Range Hood Upgrade Kit which closes from the inside.

Sounds like you have the old style,,, tabs that turn to lock or unlock ???
I am surprised you have those in a 2015 unit ???

If you have a painted unit,,, the paint can also make it hard to open the first time !!!

I almost never got the range fan flap open on my Windjammer, I was afraid it was going to break before I got it open.
