Underside Foam

Hey all,

I added a small single step to our 2012 Lexington. The step bolted nicely to the underside of the integral step on the unit but I had to cut away several inches of foam to expose the bottom of integral step.
The foam itself is a purplish color and had a brown coating on the exterior so I am assuming that the foam needs some kind of protection. Any idea what I need to use as a coating?
