Vent Cap...kind of strange!

So the wife and I are laying in bed one morning and we look up and see that the vent cap over the bed has a crack running all around it's parimeter.
This vent has had a Maxx Air vent cover on it since the day It came in from the factory.

I'm talking about the factory cap that opens and closes.
Almost like it was sun rotted.
This happened recently and we used the trailer last in November and it was not like this.
Very bizarre.
So now I need to replace it.
Has anyone ever just replaced the cap and not the entire unit?
Any advice?

Thanks in advance,

Bill

heat and sunlight will do the vent covers in, about 4 years is the life span. They're cheap enough, around $15. and real easy to change. Two screws on the crank handle, and the slide the lif off the hindge.

Take a pic or take the old one with you to your RV supply store so you can get the right lid, as there are different styles. One on our old Wildwood did the same thing last year. Had to remove inside screen and take out two screws holding the handle on and then go up on the roof and slide the lid out of the hinge, then just put the new one on as like the old one came off. Pretty simple job.

We had to do the same on two of ours last year. Easy fix and spent $15 for each cover.
