Vent replacment

Another dorky situation I encountered.

Two weeks ago, I was driving to Campland in San Diego. Between, the 60 & 57 freeway split, a commercial truck was pointing up at me. I was like wtf, I am not going slow based on the speed limit for trailers in calif. My wife said we should pull over and check but I didn't bother.

Last night I went into the trailer to sleep. I look up to the vent (over the bed) and said wow, I am seeing the sky outside. Must be nice to have a view like this . I heard some howling wind but didn't think beyond it.

Tonight I went to the trailer and heard a louder wind and checked all the windows. Then I went to the vent and felt it with my hand. Found the knob that you turn to open the vent wet and noticed there wasn't any plastic above it . Weird is that it rained today but the blanket barely was wet.

Anyways, the vent cover looks like the ventline brand on etrailer. Looking at the video, I think i have to climb to the roof top to yank out the hinge. Would a typical 8ft wide trailer be strong enough to support half body weight? I notice supporting beam right at that section.

Btw, trailer is a 2006 Thor Summit 22RB. Restroom also has a vent that I lost.

I think that would depend on your weight.

Should be able to walk on, kneel instead of standing since it distributes weight better. Most campers you can put someone on the roof, just not a party up there.
