Washing & Waxing?

We just got back from our first trip in our new Windjammer. Any suggestions on the best way to wash & wax the exterior. What about the roof? Any product suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Just a good soap and water on the roof. Do not use Dawn on the roof if you have an exterior protectant on the fiberglass.

Otherwise I use a long adjustable pole with a brush on the end from Mr. Longarm.

Also just a brush on the roof with a mild soap and just keep it clean and it will last a full lifetime of the roof 10-15 years +.

Waxing will prove to be much harder so use a good marine wipe on wax and do small areas at a time and make sure you do not have the surfaces hot or it will be very hard to get the wax off when buffing.

If power buffing be very carfull to use the right pad and DO NOT burn through the to the fiberglass as that will be permanent!

A really good waxing 1-2 times per year will keep the exterior in pristine condition.

Oh Crap! what happens if you use Dawn? I just used it on mine. Some people on here suggested using dawn as long as I rinse the sides right away.

Likely that Dawn will remove some/all of the wax on the sides that it contacts. Difficult to keep the sides wet down enough. You will do no harms but may have to touch up some areas.

It would be just like Tiggerdad said and would be instantly removed. Not a huge deal just need to be re-applied or waxed. Which ever protection you have.

Dawn is very good at removing grease\oil from surfaces. You could use it at the end of the year BEFORE the year-end wax!

I'm wondering if one could use a power washer and the soap/wax mix that I use on the TV. That seems to cut the road grime quite effectively.

I would not use a power washer on my fiver. I also would not use a power washer on my pickup.

Power washer could blow the caulk out of seams making it a lot more project than necessary.

I do not have a fiberglass trailer, I have a metal sided TT. I used Ibiz IBIZ World Class Wax the day we brought the new trailer home. They have a special wash mixture to use and then you apply the wax. It goes on easy and you wipe it off while still wet. I was able to do a 26ft TT in about 3 hours, done. For spot cleaning inbetween washes they have a waterless wash/wax the buffs the unit back to clean. This product is endorsed by the Covette Club of America and the Antique Auto Club. I would not use anything else now.

Just finished after two days cleaning and conditioning the roof and washing and waxing the 5er. I was on a roll so I washed and waxed the truck too. It sure looks pretty!!! Here's what I used. All purchased at Camping World.
Cleaning the roof; Thetford Premium Rubber Roof Cleaner
Conditioning the roof; Dicor Roof-Gard
Washing; Gel Gloss Heavy Duty RV Wash and Wax
Waxing; Gel Gloss Heavy Duty RV Cleaner and Wax
