Washing Trailer at Campground

Has anyone ever washed their travel trailer/RV at the campground? If so did anyone say anything to you? You're paying for the water so why not?

Check the rules or ask first. Some allow, some don't.

our campground allowed us 2x a year but they have a sign up now that says we have to conserve water so we might not be able to this year

Moistest to frown on it but I always wash mine when I go to Fortwilderness and no one ever says you can't do that, I have seen people using a bucket and doing the wash wipe method but no hose use, to much like hard work!

I have used a bucket of water(no soap) and a brush to wash bugs off the front and if bad enough, I'll pull a hose around to rinse. If they are into water conserving, they need to put locks on the faucets!

I don't make a big production of it and will do it hopefully when no one is looking.

Some people might consider this a violation and call the Grey Water Police.

Most campgrounds I have been to not only frown on it but have it written in their rules not to wash them. I would recommend checking with the campground. You can also use a blue beacon truck wash.

I'm curious about those waterless washes. Anybody use it, how does it work and does it hurt the finish?

Not to start a war, but if campground expenses go up then campground rates go up as well. Your camping fee covers a lot more than electric, water and sewer.

Most campgrounds frown on washing. If mine is extremely dirty I'll ask, I've had a variety of responses from no to go ahead and it will cost you an extra ten dollars. I have no problem paying a little extra to clean my fifth wheel.

Most of the campgrounds in FL forbid it unless you hire someone to come in and they bring their own water. I think the state is cracking down due to water shortages, but not for sure.

I agree, most RV parks that I have been to frown on or forbid it. I have, however found some that were willing to compromise and allow me to wash the bugs from the front of the RV. I do use a waterless wash (wash and wax all) and have found it to be very helpful in cleaning my coach after arriving at a campground....providing that it is not caked with dirt.

I think in most places it isn't the water use, but the soap or other chemicals ending up on the ground. Now the next guy has to camp there on your soap and chemicals. If everyone started doing it, there'd be a lot of soap in our campsites.

Doesn't seem to be the case in the cgs we stay at in FL, there are usually 2 or 3 units being washed daily by commercial washers. At least in FL, and the campgrounds being 99% sand, the water doesn't create a mess for long and the grass is still green most of the time we're down there from Nov - Mar.

I think it would make a muddy mess of your campsite especially if the hose is used.

In FL, they use pressure washers to wet the trailers down, squirt cleaner, brush them and rinse with pressure washers, they really don't use much water as they have to carry it in their vans.

The rules of the RV resort we stay at in Sarasota, Fl state no washing on site but you can stop at their car/truck/RV wash station and for a fee wash your RV (we pay $5000.00++ for three mos..Figure that out)....I always stop at a truck stop just n of Tampa and get a full wash of RV & truck....I cannot understand this rule as someone can use more water to flush their black water holding tank bi-weekly than washing their RV once a month to get rid of the pollen...........

Camper Washing

I use Griot's Garage Waterless Wash. It does a great job on my Georgetown, but it's a tad pricey. Amazon has it for 49.95 for a spray bottle and one gallon refill.
Most places say no, but depending on the areas water restrictions, it's easier to get forgiveness that permission!

I could with my old toy hauler it had a 250 gal fresh water tank. I miss that. a lot of them will allow mobile rv wash rigs to come in and clean rv's but they need there own water.

And risk getting ban from the park? Not worth it to me just to have a clean camper.
