What in the heck is this for?

What is this? It's a small rubber bumper secured to the front of my camper with a screw. It keeps coming out and I keep putting it back in.

I have no idea what it's there for though. Normally something like that is to stop a door from bumping and scratching or denting the material behind it. But it is quite obvious you have nothing there like that. Can you take a picture of the entire side? You may have a mystery here!

There is nothing there on either side. Above it, below it, etc.. it's a really long screw That's in there. I haven't pulled it out yet because I don't know what it's for. On the other side is our bed.

The screw/bumper is smack dab in the middle of the front wall.

It kinda looks like it might have been where one of the little bubble levels was attached but is now missing simular to the one above it.

Looks like who ever mounted the level accidentally drilled a hole ( or used a self tapping screw) in the wrong place and just used that bumper to cover it up. That is a potential source for water intrusion.. I would take it out fill the hole with dacor then put it back with some dacor between the bumper and the surface.

I think I figured it out.. I did a Google search and found some photos. It appears that in some instances the propane tanks are behind the battery and in others it's in front of the battery.

My tanks are in front of the battery right behind the toungue jack. If they were being the battery I could see where the bumper would serve a purpose in keeping the tanks from contacting the trailer.

Anyone know why I'm seeing different photos with mounting the tanks and the battery? Did the dealer do that? Is there a benefit of one over the other?

Well, it looks like your pics and search got the answer. I was wondering if it might be something like that, which is why I asked for the wider area picture. So yeah, if it keeps coming out, I would definitely remove it and fill in the hole. I used some marine patch stuff on my boat a few years ago (came in a little bottle, but I can't remember what it's called), and it worked really well. I'd check with a marine store to see what it is. Good luck.

Probably Marine-tex. It fills and bonds just about everything. You can get it in white and sold @ Amazon too.

007matman, From what I can see in the two pictures you have is the LP tanks have to be moved behind the Batteries so their would be room for the hand jack crank to operate. Room not required for the electric jack.

That would make sense then.

I do have an electric jack but don't know if that was original. It appears to have been an option on this unit. That would explain why some had it in font and others had it behind and why that bumper is there.

I'll just seal up the hole well and call it good.

That's your RV de-flator screw insert. Remove completely and your rig will slowly, but completely deflate for convenient storage. Got one on mine and it's a lifesaver!

Tanks in front are the way to go. More room for dual batteries if they're behind the tanks. Wish ours was setup like that. Can't be bothered right now to swap them around.
