Someone up the line said silicone is bad for RV's???? I agree that you should use recommended sealant for rubber roof repairs, but what do you think most any semi-current production RV uses for window, door, beltline, or trim molding sealant ... silicone fur sure.

That always made me laugh as well.. Silicone is the spawn of Satan but.. Slide and a few spots were sealed with a polyurethane type sealant then the rest is all silicone ... Other than the roof of course.

EPDM Coatings - Liquid EPDM Rubber Roof Coatings For Roof Leaks

Anyone considering doing this type of coating may want to look at this product. Shortly after application rain or dew will not affect it. The Dicor video states to keep dew or rain off the roof while it cures which would be hard to accomplish in most circumstances.

We used a product called Liquid Roof on a previous camper slide roof that had a tear in rubber

Sealed whole slide roof - great product - goes on like thick syrup and dries shiny smooth white - self levels

I would check with the manufacturer to see what they recommend. Our Palomini uses a roofing material from Alpha Systems and Palomino recommended that we use their sealant on the trailer to ensure compatibility and maintain the warranty.

Action Plan

Thanks to everyone who has replied to my post. After speaking with the service manager where we purchased our TT, I am going to remove the mystery goo and reseal the corners with a rubber sealant that can be used on rubber roofs and is UV resistant. I will provide pics and info on the product I used once I'm done.

PS - It's pushing 80 degrees and sunny here in southeast GA today.
