What is this on my roof? 2010 Sabre 32BHTS
Hi, I was on my roof the other day and noticed this vent or something. I have a 2010 Sabre 32BHTS fifth wheel. This is located at the rear of the trailer, I know its not a tank vent, as I have 3 of those and they all look fine. It looks like its missing a cover and I can't find any info about what it is or how to get a cover for it (assuming there should be one.) It looks as if rain can get in to it as it is. Please help! Thanks

It is much larger than the other plumbing vents on my camper. They are maybe 3 or 4 inches in diameter and this is 6 or 7 inches. I have 2 black tanks and 1 gray tank, and there are 3 other vents on the roof that are the standard plumbing vents. This is the only one and is different and has me stumped. Thanks for the reply.

It looks like the "attic" vent that was removed from my Sabre when they installed the second AC unit. I still have the vent I think. If you cannot find the top, let me know and I will see if mine had a top and I will send it to you if it did and I kept it.

No, no damage or evidence of water inside the camper at all. We just got back from a week at the beach and it rained a TON! What should I do about inspecting, etc? I know water got into this uncovered vent but I do not know where it went or if it did any damage. Thanks for the help.

do you smoke? If not we'll have to think of something else, but I'm thinking you light up a cigarette, take a drag and exhale from the roof blowing down into the camper.

duh....set up a flashlight pointing down into the grill (and are those fan blades I see peeking out?). Then you can find where the light is coming in.

Thanks for all the help. I've been doing some research based on the attic vent tip and that is exactly what it is, an attic vent. It's called a "mushroom vent" and you can buy the whole thing, including the cap (that looks like a mushroom!) on ebay for about $17. Mystery solved but I'm still concerned about the water that go in there while it poured rain on us all week at the beach (my luck!) They look like fan blades, but they are fixed, and there is not much room for water to get in. I'm hoping not enough got in to do any damage and the new cap will solve the problem.

I emailed Forest River and got this reply..."If any water gets it would be very little as long as you did not have torrential down pours . The water would go between the decking and the ceiling boards"
We had hard rains for 5 out of 7 days, but no evidence on water on the ceiling anywhere. I guess I will just keep a close eye on it.

Just cut the bottom out of a plastic container (coffee or bleach), punch a hole in it and bolt it down using the existing 1/4" bolt.

It's a vent for the vented attic. You probably have more that just the one. And yes it should have a cover that screws onto the bolt part above the nut. You don't want water to get in so I'd cover it with something until you can get the missing cover. Maybe contact a dealer to order one.
