What's your opinion of Eternabond?

Although I've seen many discussions on this forum about Eternabond, I'm curious to see if anybody has any negative opinions about it. Recently I had a minor scrape from a tree limb on my roof and an RV tech pointed it out to me. I told him that I would put some Eternabond tape on it and he said I really should replace the whole roof membrane as the tape would eventually lift and peel off. I think this guy is trying to sell me a new roof. By the way, the scrape did not even penetrate all the way through the rubber.

I did apply Eternabond to a suspicious looking seam on the front of the roof last summer and have since traveled over 2,500 miles since and the tape is holding fine.

The ONLY complaints (two) I've ever read about on any R/V forum were from those that admitted they didn't do proper prep work before applying.

I scrubbed the seam with Simple Green and a brush and then wiped with alcohol before applying the tape.

I don't know if he's trying to sell you a new roof, he may just be trying to give you a permanent solution.

BUT. If you properly prep, I think Eternabond can be a permanent solution.

I consider all my eternabond usage permanent. Have you ever tried to remove it? I did when I needed to replace a skylight I had used it on. Wow. That was a job. So that would be my only complaint, that it works too well!

So yep, I agree, this guy is trying to sell you a roof. Eternabond will fix that scrape.

The only complaint Iíve ever heard was on another forum. It was an RV tech who complained how much of a pain it was to remove to do some kind of unrelated repair.

Yeah, even eternabond says to just cut off the old damaged stuff and not even attempt to remove it.. What does that tell you!

Used it on all the seams of the last trailer and most on this 5er as a preemptive strike. No more constant touch up of the seams with dicor.. It will outlast my camper at this point.

Same here and I'm very satisfied with it.

Heck, FR even put eternabond on the slides where the outside flange connects at the slide out roof.
