Will vent cover damage auto opening vent?

I have a Fan-Tastic vent fan in my kitchen and would like to put a cover over it. My vent height when open is 12+ inches high. Research on the internet has shown that Fan-Tastic recommends the Ultrabreeze but the Ultrabreeze is only 10.5 inches in height. When the fan is activated, won't it damage the lift motor/mechanism? Anyone familiar with this dilemma? Similar problem in the bathroom but that cover is manual and I can stop it. Love to hear suggestions! Thanx in advance!

Is your Fan-Tastic vent fan in your kitchen automatic that it only opens to full height? I have always used the MAX AIR II cover but it's not 12.5" tall. It's 9.5"

I like it because it's easy to open on it's hinged lid design, clean the vent and the caulking around it and reseal when I see it needs to be redone. Had my last camper 7 years with them on the entire time and they were still as good as new when I traded it in last year.

If that's Fan-Tastic's recommendation, I'd reach out to them to explain the discrepancy. Like was mentioned previously, perhaps the vent cover doesn't raise all the way.

Not a problem. I replaced the fan in ours with the same as you with the same outside cover. It opens and stops with resistance to opening. Has not hurt it in6 years.

I'm not sure if you are saying when you turn on the fan the lid auto opens but on MaxxFans, they have a sensor on the lid motor so that when it contacts the vent cover (and stops opening) it stops the motor. Without a vent cover the lid opens completely. With a vent cover, the lid only opens about 3/4 before it stops but no matter the position, when it detects resistance to movement, it stops.

I can't imagine Fan-Tastic would be different but I can't say for sure.

Why not use a Fantastic fan vent cover? They were made for the vents. I put them on my Roo. Work great.

Our Cedar Creek has the motorized Fantastic Fan in the kitchen. When I was at Orvan Fry's shop in May, I asked if the lower vent cover would be a problem, and he said no, when it sensed resistance to opening, the motor shuts off. My vent covers are supposed be delivered by Amazon today.

You’re correct on the auto stop, however the smaller covers opening will not allow the proper airflow. According to Fantastic Fan it will place an undo strain on the motor. Since Fantastic fans are guaranteed for life I wouldn’t want to do anything that may null the warranty.
