Adding blinds to door

I have the Coachmen 310BHDS which has two (2) doors. One is the main entrance door and the other is a door into the bathroom. When it is hot, and that is pretty much all the time in S. Ga., the sun shining through those frosted glass in these doors is like an oven. So after much thought the boss lady wanted blinds added to these doors. On the front door I made wooden spacers so that the weight of these blinds would be on a kitchen cabinet and the board that covers the pocket doors to the bedroom. In the bath it was pretty much the same, spacers to mount to the cabinet and the wall. Yesterday was hot here and I went out to check and sure enough the area near the windows in both doors were quite warm. I lowered the blinds and could tell right away a temperature difference. My only regret now is that I maybe should have used the mini-blinds as these are a bit bulky and heavy. The intention is for these blinds to be pulled all the way up for traveling to keep them from swinging wildly. This is the main door.
