I do not use any other supports on my 2013 Roo awning. The rails that support the awning are good enough for most areas. There are supports you can buy if you are concerned about wind. In fact, I believe thee is someone on here who makes them personally and will sell them to you. But I have never run into an awning issue. If the wind kicks up, I roll it up.
And I never leave it out when I'm leaving the site for any amount of time where I can't get back to it quickly.
