Airstream awning, old school

Trying to help my sister out. Anyone know how to release these connectors?

By release the connectors, I'm talking it to mean how does the awning extend?
Trying to remember that far back, but I think the part attached to the trailer is like a large "hook", and you have to lift up on the awning arm and slightly pull it away from the trailer.
I think retracting it is the reverse, when the awning rolls up, you lift up on the awning arm and push it toward the trailer body letting it rest "over" the "hook"

Looks to me too that you lift up on the arm against the trailer.....

Looks like an old Faulkner awning. There should be a little lever on the end of roller tube where it says "open" you push that then grab the strap in the middle and pull it out. To reverse the process you hold the strap, and push the lever back and the spring will roll it back up.

Without seeing the other side, might this be it?

Second pic looking the other way at it show what looks like an "Open" sticker.

Thats is a Carefree. Just undo the knob, if equipped on the side and that old or lift the lever on the side. Push up and pull out. I have a Carefree on my Golden Falcon

As others have stated the lever moves up or down to do the desired action.
